Daily Schedule at the Festival

At Hallucigenia Handstand Festival, there are plenty of classes and events throughout the day!

You can take lots of classes, practice, relax, and socialize...

Enjoy the festival in your own way!

※ Please note that schedules and content are subject to change without notice.
Use this as a reference to get a sense of the atmosphere.

Day1(2nd Nov)

11:00~

Registration & Orientation

Registration opens before noon on the first day! Staff will be waiting for you at the entrance of the dojo. Once everyone has gathered, we will have an opening orientation. We will explain about the four days of the program, give you precautions, and tell you how to live. Lunch will not be served on the first day, so please finish your meal before registration.

14:00~

First Class Starts!

After the orientation is over, classes will begin once you have been briefed on your class! Classes will be held in various rooms in the venue according to the level of the students. Please feel free to join any class that interests you at the class explanations! Teachers from dance, yoga, circus, and kobudo will teach you various techniques, tips, and ideas related to handstand. In addition to handstand, we also offer stretching classes for those who want to improve their flexibility!

18:00~

Dinner, Free Time, Bath

After the class, it's time for dinner. We will be served a vegetarian plain Zen meal prepared by the dojo's priests. The amount of meal is quite small at first sight, but you will gradually get used to it and your body feels refreshed and reputed. If you don't have enough, you can eat out or buy a lunch outside. (The rice in the photo is an example. After the meal, there will be free time and bath time. Please spend your free time as you like, reviewing what you have learned in class, socializing with other people, etc. When the baths are open, you can go to the large public bath and refresh yourself by washing away the sweat of your practice.

Bed time

After learning and playing a lot, let's get a good night's sleep. Everyone will sleep together in a large tatami room. Please sleep in a spacious and open atmosphere. It is not so common to experience sleeping in such a spacious room...? Let's recover slowly for tomorrow! After the meal, free time and bath time. You can spend your free time as you like, reviewing what you learned in class, socializing with other people, etc. When the bath is free, you can refresh yourself in the large bath to wash away the sweat from your practice.

Day 2 (November 3)

The second day starts with breakfast! The rice porridge made by the priests is simple but really tasty! It become so addictive that many of us ended up making it ourselves after the festival when we got home. After breakfast, we will have a morning meeting for explanation of the day's activities, and then the second day will begin.

Start of Classes on Day 2!

After the morning meeting, the second day of classes will begin after the class description. We offer a variety of classes with different content each day. You can take a class with an instructor of a genre you don't know, try a class that looks a little difficult, or learn the basics...look at the upcoming schedule and create your own course! If you are not sure what to take, you can ask the staff or instructors for advice ◎.

12:00~

Lunch

After the morning class is over, it's time for lunch. You may be getting used to eating plain food and your body is starting to detox. You do inverted stretches, eat plain food, go to bed early, and get up early. How healthy... We ask participants to help with meal preparation and cleanup. It's fun when we all do it together.

Afternoon Class Begins!

We offer a variety of classes in the afternoon as well. Choose a class with a teacher you were interested in but could not take, or choose one by word of mouth from others ◎. You can learn valuable techniques that you can only learn here as you bathe in them! If you are feeling a little tired, taking a break from class and relaxing in the museum or going for a walk in the neighborhood is also a good way to spend your time.

​Dinner

After class, dinner is served. While eating in the cafeteria, everyone chats about what they did today and what they plan to do tomorrow. Let's take a breather.

Let's Play Handstands Together! Game Time!

In the evening, it is time for fun! Everyone will play various games using their bodies. There will be simple games that anyone can participate in, team tournaments, endurance races to show off your skills, and more. If you win, you might even get a special prize...? Stoic practice is not the only way to have fun with handstand, Let's have fun with it!

Bath time, Bed time

I can assure you that you will have a good night's sleep after a bath to wash off the sweat from the abundant learning and playing you have done today. Tomorrow will be another long day, so please rest well.

In the afternoon, we have prepared various classes for you. It's a great opportunity to try classes you've been curious about but haven't had a chance to take, or those recommended by others. You can learn unique and valuable techniques that are only available here! If you start feeling a bit tired, taking a break from classes and relaxing indoors or going for a walk nearby is also a good way to spend your time.

Showtime by Teachers and Participants!

The third night is show time! Enjoy watching the shows by the instructors and participants, and of course, show your performance in front of everyone! (*We will let you know later how to apply for the performance.) This is a rare opportunity to see an handstand performance! You can also show off your special skills in addition to handstand!

Bath, bedtime

Thank you for another hard day's work! Please take a refreshing bath and have a good rest. Tomorrow is the last day!

Today is the last morning porridge. Even if you miss porridge already, we'll have to put it off until next year's festival...there will be plenty of second helpings!

Classes begin on the fourth and final day!

The last day of classes begins! You may be wondering what to take for your last class... learn more handstand, stretch and care for your body, or try the moving handstand of dance and capoeira... Your body will be transformed after four full days of immersion in handstands!

The festival is over. It is the last meal. Feel refreshed both mentally and physically after continuing to eat the bare food at the festival. The priests who prepared the meals every day,

Q&A and Closing meeting

At the end of the whole festival, we will have a Q&A time where everyone can gather and ask the teachers any questions. Let's ask whatever questions or specific questions you may have had after taking various classes at the festival! And after everything, a fun ending party will be waiting you!

Cleanup, Dismissal

This is the end of the 4 days. Thank you very much for your hard work! Please clean up so you don't forget anything and go home safe and sound with happy memories. We look forward to seeing you again at next year's festival!
